Doug Wheat has practiced in Texas and Louisiana state and federal courts for twenty-four years. The primary focus of his practice is civil defense litigation. His primary areas of expertise are in the maritime, energy, transportation, and worker’s compensation (both state and federal) fields. Doug also has extensive experience in defending general liability, toxic tort, products liability, property and casualty, and construction cases in both Texas and Louisiana state and federal courts.

Doug was born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, in 1958. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of New Orleans in 1981 and his law degree from Tulane University of Louisiana in 1984. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas, Louisiana State Bar Association, United States Supreme Court, United States Courts of Appeals for the Fourth, Fifth, and Eleventh Circuit, United States Court of Claims, all United States District Courts in Louisiana and Texas, American Bar Association, Maritime Law Association of the United States, TXANS Association of Responsible Non-subscribers, The Houston Mariner’s Club, The Longshore Claims Association, and the Southeast Admiralty Law Institute.
